Osteopathy for Babies

Safe, gentle, effective.

You might have been recommended to come and see us by a midwife, health visitor or friend. There might be a specific problem to assess or just an overall check up, to help give you peace of mind. Whatever the reason, our many years of experience and training in cranial osteopathy and paediatric care will ensure you are in safe hands.

We will carefully assess your baby for any stresses or strains which may be causing them discomfort. We ensure treatment is gentle and focused and work alongside local health visitors, midwives, lactation consultants and tongue-tie practitioners to help find the right help for you and your baby.

Your child is precious and you need to know you're trusting them in the hands of experienced, qualified professionals, Unlike many cranial osteopaths, our paediatric osteopaths have undergone rigorous training in paediatric care so you can be certain they are in expert, gentle hands.

Get in touch by giving us a call or dropping us a WhatsApp message. We'll reply as soon as we're free!

Osteopathy for Children

When a child isn’t fully themselves, parents know.

Osteopathic treatment is safe and effective in helping children with a wide range of problems. Young children often find it difficult to voice their feelings and instead display changes in sleeping patterns, behaviour and general health. Our osteopaths will carefully assess your child to see which treatment approaches may be of help.

Children are also especially vulnerable to sporting injuries. Their growing bodies experience a great deal of physical demand and pressure to perform. The good news is, with a helping hand, children can recover quickly and easily.

Treatment of children is a specialist area of osteopathic practice. All our osteopaths have undertaken postgraduate training in Paediatric Osteopathy. We are also trained to screen for medical conditions, and will tell you if your child needs to see another health professional, such as your doctor or other specialist.

Osteopathy for Pregnancy

Pregnancy should not mean pain.

We aim to help you to enjoy your pregnancy. Muscular and joint pain in pregnancy is so common that it is often considered normal – we disagree. Pregnancy should not mean that you need to suffer. Pain or discomfort is a sign that your body is struggling to adapt to its new shape and needs help.

Osteopathy can help to provide relief from many pregnancy-related aches and pains, as well as more specific conditions such as pelvis, back and neck pain. If you have suffered an injury to your pelvis or coccyx, it’s worth seeking treatment to support the function of the tissues before you go into labour.

Regain your health, strength and confidence.

New mums are often too busy to deal with any hindering discomfort following the birth. Everything is wrapped up in caring for babies - and we’re all so very tired! However, it’s a good time to treat postpartum effects as the body is most responsive soon after labour.

Many suffer from back pain, sore thumbs or an aching neck following the delivery of their baby. For some women, pain in the lower back and pelvis doesn't ease as quickly. A postnatal assessment and osteopathic treatment can help your body cope with the strains and changes your body has
gone through.

Mummy MOT

The Mummy MOT is a specialist, detailed postnatal assessment we recommend for all women following delivery – whether six weeks or years after.

After delivering their baby, most women experience weakened abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. This can create instability and poor core strength resulting in problems such as back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel weaknesses.

We’ll look at the strength and function of your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and work to understand how your body is compensating for these changes. Together, we’ll help you achieve your goals and regain confidence in your health.

This includes:

  • Assessment of your tummy muscles after pregnancy
  • Evaluation of your pelvic floor muscles (internal vaginal assessment is optional)
  • Check for scar tissue, rib cage changes and other postnatal issues
  • Full screen of your posture, breathing and physical changes
  • Recommendations for tummy and pelvic floor exercises

Osteopathy for Sports

When it comes to sports injuries, osteopathy has a unique approach. Osteopaths look beyond the injured area, to find out why the injury has occurred.

With an accurate working diagnosis, we can use a variety of techniques to address the injury. We'll put together a tailored treatment plan, helping you achieve your goals and get back to enjoying an active life.

Young people are especially vulnerable in sport as their growing bodies have to perform to high standards with great physical demand. The good news is that although sports injuries are common, with a bit of help, those who are fit tend to recover quickly and easily from their injuries.
